‘Tonley Neymar’ Charolais bull claims overall champion title at Aberdeen Christmas Classic

Pedigree beef bulls closed out the judging portion of day two at the Aberdeen Christmas Classic, Scotland’s premier two-day winter event held in conjunction with the Aberdeen Fatstock Association and sponsored by Northlink Ferries.
 
John Angus, Aberdeen & Northern Marts Head of Livestock, said: “With a high-quality entry, the bulls met a very selective demand today.”
 
Judged by Colin Smith, Towiemore, Drummuir, Keith, the overall champion and champion Charolais titles were awarded to Tonley Neymar exhibited by Neil Wattie, Mains of Tonley, Alford, and achieved a price of 2,800gns to J Barclay & Son, Ardiecow, Fordyce, Banff. The Charolais reserve champion, Elrick Navigator, was showed by M J Massie, Mains of Elrick, Auchnagatt.
 
In the Limousin bull class, the champion Ritchies Neverman from Aileen Ritchie, Tamala, Whitecairns, realised 3,000gns and sold to F & J Whyte, Nether Kirkton, Barthol Chapel, Inverurie. The reserve champion Aultmore Ninja was exhibited by Gordon Hendry, Heads of Auchinderran, Keith, and made an impressive 3,800gns to Ballintomb Farm, Dulnain Bridge, Grantown-On-Spey.
 
The Simmental bulls saw Corskie Impeccabull shown by W & J Green, Corksie, Garmouth, top the competition by achieving the champion title, with the reserve champion title awarded to Islavale Ivan, exhibited by W S Stronach, Berryleys, Grange, Keith.
 
Culfoichmore Mercury shown by J & M MCConachie, Culfoichmore, Grantown-On-Spey was awarded the champion Aberdeen Angus title, and achieved 2,000gns to J G Angus, Craigmancy, Bridge of Marnoch, Huntly. The reserve champion, Strathinver Elmo, exhibited by W Willox, Broadmyre, Clatt, Huntly, realised an outstanding 4,000gns, and was purchased by W J Milne, Blackshalloch, Mulben, Keith.
 
Other notable prices include 4,000gns for a Charolais bull from Anna Robertson, Lower Inchcorsie, Rothiemay, Huntly, purchased by W & V Leith, North Crannoch, Crossroads, Keith; 3,100gns for a Simmental from A & A Wright, Lagavaich, Glenlivet, Ballindalloch which was purchased by Innes & Aldridge, Carlton House, 20 High Street, Archiestown; and 3,000gns for a Limousin shown by W Ritchie, Tamala, Burnside, Whitecairns and bought by F & J Whyte, Nether Kirkton, Barthol Chapel, Inverurie.
