Store Cattle Sales

Thainstone

With outstanding facilities, Thainstone Centre is strategically placed right in the heart of the north-east making it an ideal place to do business for store producers and finishers. Annually over 60,000 stores pass through the sale ring at the weekly Friday auction with entries exceeding 2,000 during the peak spring and autumn seasons.

We have long standing links with Orkney and Shetland Isles through Aberdeen ferry links. With a dedicated Orkney based fieldsman, ANM offers an unrivalled service for Island consignors. This provides a full service of procurement, advice, transport, lairage and after sales contact. Stock are transported using the very efficient system from Orkney and Shetland by sea to Aberdeen with specially designed roll-on, roll-off units.

Consignors also now have the opportunity to view the sale of their consignment at the live link on our website.

Caithness

Stock from Caithness, the Highlands and other outlying areas benefit from Thainstone’s extensive indoor and outdoor lairage facilities. We have the ability to rest and feed large numbers of cattle and sheep to the highest welfare standard, to ensure all stock are looking their best when offered for sale. This is a key attraction for buyers and sellers alike.

Please see our Caithness Livestock Centre page for further information.

Scotland’s premier source of show winners

For those looking for some extra-special quality, the Royal Northern Spring Show and The Spectacular show in August offers a selection of calves suitable for further showing. Entries from across Scotland come forward to compete for the generous prize money which is on offer.

Purchases have gone on to feature at many of the top events throughout the UK. One of these animals sold at £14,800 and then went on to win at the prestigious Smithfield prime stock show and sale.

But the catchment area doesn’t stop there

ANM also operates seasonal store cattle and weaned calf sales at Caithness Livestock Centre with mostly continental sired cattle attracting many regular buyers. Caithness Livestock Centre also operates as a collection centre for cattle entered for the Thainstone Centre weekly sales.
