The Massey Ferguson 35X tractor which featured in the recent Timed Online Farm Dispersal sale on behalf of Robert MacDonald, Castle Grant Home Farm, Grantown-on-Spey, attracted nationwide interest.
The vintage model, which was sold on behalf of the late David Merchant a well-known auctioneer in the North, was sold for £6,400 to Redhill Machinery Sales, Inverness, with the full proceeds being donated to the Highland Hospice Charity.

Graham Gibb, Auctioneer & Fieldsman at Aberdeen & Northern Marts, who handled the sale said “We were delighted to see the tractor raise such a fantastic amount for Highland Hospice, a charity very close to the family’s hearts.
Our thanks must go to Redhill Machinery Sales and all underbidders for their generous support, and we are pleased that the tractor will remain here in the Highlands.”
David Merchant originally purchased the tractor from Gregor Mackay, Silverwells, Edderton, in the early 2000s, with the proceeds at that time also donated to Highland Hospice. It was his wish that the tractor be resold, and the funds returned to support the charity once again.
