Islavale Ringo leads Pedigree Bull sale at 13,000gns

A strong entry of pedigree bulls and females was showcased at the Royal Northern Spring Show, held on Wednesday, 25th February at Thainstone Centre, Inverurie.
The show held in conjunction with Aberdeen and Northern Marts was sponsored for the third year by NorthLink Ferries with David Barclay, Tullo of Garvock, Laurencekirk judging the pedigree bull’s section.
The pedigree bull sale saw a top price of 13,000gns achieved for the Champion Simmental Bull, with a total of 29 bulls averaging £8,501.37 and 4 Limousin Females averaging £3,622.50 from well-known consignors across the North East of Scotland.
Averages: 3 Charolais, £8,225 (-£1,400); 15 Limousin, £8,491 (+£2,366); 8 Simmental, £9,292.50 (+£1,627.50); 3 Aberdeen Angus, £5,775 (+£150); 1 British Blue, £8,610.
The Simmental breed topped the sale with the Champion Simmental, Islavale Ringo, a March 2024 born bull from W S Stronach, Berryleys, Grange, Keith, tapping out at 13,000gns selling on to W & V Leith, North Crannnoch, Crossroads, Keith.
Achieving the second top price was first prize Limousin, Ronick Vampire, from W M Dick & Son, Mains of Throsk Farm, Stirling. The April 2024 born bull tapped out at 12,000gns selling to J & B Muir, Honeyneuk Farm, Maud, Peterhead.
The Simmental Reserve Champion, Auchorachan Reagan, an August 2024 born Simmental from D & R Durno & Sons, Auchoracha, Glenlivet, Ballindalloch went on to sell for the third top price of 11,800gns selling to D & A Bruce, Dorsell, Alford, Aberdenshire.
Judge David Barclay of Tullo of Garvock, Laurencekirk awarded Oddies Volcano the Limousin Champion as the Overall Spring Show Pedigree Bull Champion. The January 2024 born Limousin from A Nelson & D Scott Odmoston Farm, Laurencekirk went onto sell for 11,000gns to D M McCallum, Shoreton Farm, Culbokie, Dingwall.
Tapping out at the next top price of 11,000gns was a Simmental bull from Heather Duff, Broomknowe Farm, Brechin, Angus. The April 2024 born bull, Pitmudie Rambo, went on to sell to N & S Innes, Cairnhill, Huntly.
10,000gns was achieved twice, first for the Limousin Reserve Champion, Dunveaden Varrich, a March 2024 born bull from N R Barclay, Harestone, Crathes, Banchory which went on to sell B T Kitson, 25 South Side, Hutton, Rudby, Yarm and A & A Morrison, Bush of Muldearie, Keith’s April 2024 born Limousin bull, Muldearie VIP, selling to W J & P D Mac, Hilton Farm, Tain.
S J Mitchell, Ploverwards, Grange, Keith went onto sell their May 2024 born Limousin bull, Bencraig Vosa, for 9,800gns selling to the Chapman Family, Cockmuir, Strichen, Fraserburgh.
In the Charolais section, a top price of 9,500gns was achieved for Foundland Vorsprung, a March 2024 bull from A Reid, Knockdhu, Hill of Logie, Udny selling to Newton Farms, Newton of Tulloch, St Katerines, Inverurie. The judge tapped Harestone Vancouver from N R Barclay, Harestone, Crathes, Banchory the Champion Charolais, the August 2024 born bull went onto sell to A R Strathedee, Langlanburn, Deskford, Buckie for 7,000gns. The Reserve Charolais Champion was awarded to an April born bull, Toremains Valour, from J S Fraser, Tore Mains, Moir of Ord.
The Aberdeen Angus section saw a top price of 7,000gns for Ballindaloch Phoenix, a May 2024 Born bull from Ballindalloch Home Farms, The Estate Office, Ballindalloch selling to J A Eddie, Eastown, Glenbervie, Stonehaven. Blelack Hill Empire, a May 2024 born bull from Messrs A N Calcott & Son, Blelack, Aboyne secured the Champion Aberdeen Angus title with the Reserve Champion Aberdeen Angus title awarded to Cairnton Krack Master, a May 2024 born bull from K & M Howie, Cairnton, Lumphanan, Banchory which went on to sell for 4,000gns to J & A Kindnes, Blackhouse, Methlick, Ellon.
D J Merrow, Uppermill Farm, Tarves, Ellon sold their December 2023 British Blue bull, Uppermill True Blue, for 8,200gns selling to D N Barclay, Tullo of Garvock, Laurencekirk.
In the sale of Limousin females from J Penny & Son, Shannas, Clola, Peterhead Shannas Velity, achieved the top price of 4,200gns selling to A & H Sim, Rorandle, Monymusk, Inverurie.
