New leadership structure strengthens future of livestock division

Aberdeen & Northern Marts, a division of leading co-operative ANM Group, has strengthened its Livestock Division leadership structure to underpin its strategic direction and its commitment to long‑term stability and performance.

John Angus has been appointed Director of the Livestock Division, recognising his extensive experience, and longstanding contribution to the business. In this role, he will focus on overall leadership, performance, and the development of future talent, ensuring the Division continues to deliver strong results while building a sustainable future.

John will continue to be supported by Deputy Head of Livestock Colin Slessor, whose wealth of experience and knowledge of the livestock sector brings valuable experience to the leadership team, and by Scott Chapman in his senior role as Store Cattle & Northern Sales Manager.

Scott continues to oversee key divisional activity and plays a central role in driving performance, particularly across store cattle and Caithness sales combining strong commercial judgement and a practical understanding of the sector. Working closely with John, Scott will continue to build on his experience and broaden his leadership capability, reflecting our focus on developing the next generation from within.

Gordon Simpson, who joined the business last year as Canvasser and Procurement Agent, has been appointed to the new role of Canvassing & Operations Manager. Gordon has quickly established strong working relationships with customers and colleagues and gained a clear understanding of the day-to-day workings of the Division; he is well placed to take over responsibility for canvassing and operational co-ordination across the Division.

Grant Rogerson, Chief Executive of ANM Group said: “ANM continues to invest for the future, strengthening our livestock division and developing the talent that is essential in leading our business forward. These key appointments reflect our commitment to building a resilient, high‑performing team that delivers for our members, customers and the wider agricultural community now and in the future.

“Alongside this, we have been encouraged by the strong response to our recent call for non‑executive directors, which reflects both the strength of the Group and shared commitment to the future.  With the process now well underway, we look forward to providing a further update in due course.”
